Code Enforcement

The code enforcement office is responsible for the enforcement of all City of Apalachicola codes and ordinances, including land development/zoning regulations. The Code Enforcement office is open M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

At its September 3, 2025, regular monthly meeting, the City Commission agreed with a Tree Committee recommendation not to charge application and Reforestation Fund fees to private property owners who get approval to remove palm trees exhibiting lethal bronzing disease symptoms.

Property owners will still need to submit tree removal applications to the Code Enforcement Officer (CEO). Upon receipt of an application, the CEO will inspect the trees and give approval for their removal by the owner if the trees show symptoms of LBD. The CEO's entering into his or her decision on the application form will complete the application process and serve as a way for the City and the Tree Committee to document the spread of the disease in the City.
