February 3 @ 5:00 pm

The agenda can be found on our Agendas & Minutes page.

Apalachicola  Hosts Stormwater Analysis Workshop February 3 at 5 pm.

The Apalachicola City Commission will host a workshop February 3 at 5 pm to receive the final phase II analysis from Dewberry Engineers for flood-prone areas within the City.  The project, funded through a Florida Department of Commerce Rural Infrastructure grant, documented stormwater conveyance characteristics, both pipes and ditches, along with deficiencies of each that have contributed to localized flooding within 18 drainage basins totaling nearly 310 acres within the City.

The purpose of the February 3 workshop will be for the commission to hear the final analysis and recommendations for repair. Once the analysis is accepted, the City will then prioritize repairs and seek funding to implement repair in and around those areas where localized flooding has been documented throughout the City.

The 2025 drainage basin analysis represents the second phase of the City’s ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the City’s stormwater system. The first drainage basin analysis was completed in 2020. Problems within those drainage basin areas were identified and repairs are currently underway as part of a 2023 DEP-funded stormwater mitigation grant.  You can view both phase I and phase II drainage Basin Analysis online on the Planning and Community Development page of the City’s website cityofapalachicola.com.

The workshop will be held at 5 pm, February 3, prior to the regular City commission meeting at 74 6th Street, Apalachicola.
