I'm honored by this opportunity to welcome you to the Historic City of Apalachicola, Florida's official website and to wholeheartedly thank you for taking time to stop by to visit with us on your journey throughout the vast and ever expanding World Wide Web.
Regardless of where you started in your search, you are now here in the virtual land of friendly people where an actual visit to the city will abound you with excitement and treasured fun on the waters of our pristine river, Bay and Gulf of Mexico.
Apalachicola is a part of old Florida, where you will be hurled back into time while leisurely strolling through the city and stopping only to shop inside one of our restored historical buildings that house many of our fine mom and pop shops, or to dine at one of our seafood restaurants known for serving the freshest and finest locally landed seafood.
While here you will meet and be greeted by a people that have a strong sense of place, and a community with a vibrant history and a rich maritime culture, a town where shrimp boats and oyster businesses still line our working waterfront.
A small community that takes pride in having a dedicated youth center, a after school-summer enrichment program, a state-of-art senior citizen center along with a History, Culture and Art Center, which fits nicely within our recent designation as a "Florida Main Street Community" and our national designation as "A Distinctive Destination" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
As you can see, Apalachicola is a unique place to visit or to settle down and it was made possible through effective leadership in collaboration with our local community partners, including state and federal agencies.
Thanks for visiting with us, and I hope to see you in person real soon.
